Austin Sets Stage for Local Bands
Austin is widely known as the "Live Music Capital of the World." Bands travel far and wide to perform in this city, often overshadowing local bands. However, local bands are given chances to shine as well, if on a smaller scale. Events like Fast Forward Austin feature local musicians and also bring in obscure bands from other areas, creating great networking and collaboration opportunities. Similarly, record stores here in Austin such as Waterloo Records and End of an Ear work with local bands to sell CDs, organize launch parties and host signings. Local bands are not frequently given the opportunity to perform in famous venues such as Stubb's Bar-B-Q or Emo's, and must settle for smaller bars and clubs throughout Austin on nights encouraging local bands to take the stage. The live music scene is one of the many factors that draws people to Austin, giving local bands a head start in reaching audiences open to new and unusual music.

How Vegetarian Friendly Is UT?
For this project, a partner and I investigated healthy options on campus. We interviewed vegetarian students and researched various aspects of meals options. Below is the compilation we ended up with.
